Toyota Brings in Security Guards to Personally Escort Sacked Workers in Australia


More than 200 workers Toyota workers at the firm's Altona plant in Melbourne, Australia, were in for a nasty surprise on Monday as the company went ahead with its original plan to axe 350 employees. The remaining workers will be sacked on Tuesday.

Toyota 86 Makes its D1GP Debut in Japan…and Crashes!

We all know that the Toyota 86 (or GT86/Scion FR-S) was not made for outright power and top Nürburgring lap times but for having some fun behind the wheel of a nimble sports car. One of the things that the 86 is happy to oblige with is drifting thanks to its rear-wheel drive setup, limited-slip diff and a stability control system that can be fully deactivated.

BMW Group and Toyota Begin Co-Development of Next Generation Lithium-Ion Batteries


Following an initial announcement back in December of 2011, the BMW Group and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) are moving on to the next phase of their partnership inking the deal, which will see the two companies beginning a collaborative research in the field of next-generation lithium-ion battery cells.

"The research project being undertaken under the agreement is focusing on increasing the performance and capacity of lithium-ion battery cells through the use of new combinations of materials for cathodes, anodes and electrolytes," the two automakers said in a joint statement.

Along with the research on lithium-ion batteries, Toyota and BMW have worked out a plan for a mid-to-long-term collaboration on next-generation environment-friendly vehicles and technologies.

Furthermore, BMW has agreed to supply Toyota's European division with its 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engines starting from 2014.

2012 Toyota Camry - The First Teaser Video


While there isn't much to see, Toyota president and CEO Akio Toyoda says the model is the "best Camry ever" and will "exceed your expectations." He also promised the Camry will be a "remarkable car in terms of handling, safety and fuel economy."
